It looks like 2012 is shaping up to be a running year 🙂
This coming March I will be running in the New York City Half Marathon. I had to actually put my name in a lottery to get a slot, but I got the email last week telling me I am in. So that’s the first one I will run this year. And it’s just around the corner…
A month after that I will be running in the Rutgers University Half Marathon. So this is a bit “lofty” a goal for me. None the less, it is my intention to run and complete both.
And finally, if the rest of the year goes as planned, there will be a handful of 5K (and maybe 10K) runs – one of which is a run I am organizing in the name of my niece, who passed away a few years ago from colon cancer (at the age of 18). I am hoping to cap off the year with a full marathon run. I added my name to the NYC Marathon lottery, so we’ll see if I get in.
So now begins the training. Today I rejoined a gym. I had a membership in a small, local gym for a couple of years, but they closed the one in my town recently. Today I joined Golds Gym on the other end of town. It’s a new facility with all new equipment, many classes, even some tanning beds (which I stay away from…).
The last thing I have to do is decide on a training plan. I have 11 Sundays until the NYC Half Marathon, so I need to make the most of it. The running portion of the training is no problem. But I decided to get some guidance on other fat burning training I can do. This training will come from Accelerate Your Fat Loss by Obi Obadike and Jonathan Joseph. There’s some excellent training in their system and I plan to make the most of it.
From time to time, I will post my progress. In fact, I will even take a “before” photo of me today at 204 lbs and one when I finish the half marathon. If I do this right we should all see a big change 🙂
